4 Leo the Fat Cat

Grace loved her fat ginger cat, Leo. When she couldn't find him anywhere, she was unhappy and worried. All the family helped to look for him outside. They called and called his name, but Leo didn't answer. He wasn't in the garden or the shed. "Cheer up," said Mum, giving Grace a hug. "I'm sure that you'll find him soon. He might be sleeping somewhere inside the house." "I miss him so much," said Grace. "I wish he was here right now."

Dad tried to cheer her up by making funny faces, but Grace didn't laugh at all. She was so unhappy without Leo. "I'm worried about him," she told Dad. "You don't need to worry, Grace. He always comes home when he gets hungry," said Dad. "That's why he keeps getting fatter and fatter."

Grandpa told Grace a joke to make her laugh, but she didn't think it was funny at all. "Do you think Leo might be lost?" she asked. She even looked for Leo in the laundry basket. "I've hunted in every room in the house. Where else could he be hiding?" she wondered.

Mum made some delicious cup cakes to cheer Grace up, but she wouldn't even help with the mixing. She was too sad to do baking. "It's raining now," said Grace. "Poor Leo!" "Well, you know that cats don't like getting wet," said Mum. "He'll come running home soon."

Joe tried to cheer Grace up by standing on his head, but she wouldn't even look at him. He asked her some tricky riddles, but she didn't try to guess the answers. "Please help me hunt for Leo," she said. "Don't worry about him," said Joe. "He's just a lazy fat cat. He must be hiding somewhere warm and dry."
