20 Making Contact

Theo liked learning about space. He liked reading books and watching videos about the planets and the stars. He loved looking at them through his telescope at night. As Theo looked at the millions of stars far away in the sky, he asked himself, "Is anybody out there?"

He wrote an email and sent it to anybody@anywhereinspace.universe The email said, "Hello. Hello. Hello. Is anybody out there? This is Theo. I'm living on planet Earth! If you get this message and want to be friends, please answer me. Theo." He pushed SEND and sent the email on its way.

The email zapped around the back yard. It zoomed around the world. Then it flew out into space. It flew higher past the moon and whizzed past the planets and out to the starry night. "Hello. Hello. Hello. Is anybody out there? This message is from Theo. "I'm on planet Earth. If you get this message and want to be friends, please answer me."

At the same time as Theo sent the email, his best friend, Sai, was leaving his place to visit Theo. As he left home his phone buzzed. Sai opened the message and read it. "Hello. Hello. Hello. Is anybody out there? This message is from Theo. I'm on planet Earth. If you get this message and want to be friends, please answer me. Theo."

When Sai read Theo's message he laughed. He thought he would play a trick on Theo. He wrote an email back to him. It said, "Hello. Hello. Hello Theo. Yes! I am out here and I want to be friends. I have some yummy food for us to eat." Then he pressed SEND and sent the email on its way.
