Swimming With Dolphins written by Pam Holden illustrated by Harry Faulkner
This was the most exciting day that I have ever had. My uncle took me swimming with dolphins! We went far out on the sea in a big boat. We wore flippers and wet suits, and we took snorkels and masks to put on. The captain knew the best place to go to find some dolphins.
First we had to watch out for dolphins. Everyone was looking all around to see if there were any dolphins jumping out of the water. Before long, Uncle Isaac pointed to something that he could see far away. Some people had their cameras ready to take photos.
Suddenly, there were two dolphins swimming along close to our boat. Then we saw three more dolphins jumping through the waves. We both put on our masks and got our snorkels ready. Splash! Splash! We jumped off the boat into the sea.
We couldn't see any dolphins as we floated around in the deep water. "Where have they gone?" I asked my uncle. "Have we frightened them away?" Uncle Isaac pointed behind me at two big dolphins swimming near us. Then another one jumped up beside them. Everyone was very excited!
Soon more dolphins were swimming near us. They made a sound like a whistle as they jumped and dived. Whee-ee! They were talking to us! One dolphin was diving up and down, making a clicking noise. Click-click, click-click! It looked as if it was dancing to music.
