1 Huff and Puff

Huff and Puff! retold by Pam Holden illustrated by Jim Storey

Once upon a time there were three little pigs. One day they said goodbye to their mother. They wanted to build new homes. The first little pig built his new home with straw. The second little pig's house was built with sticks. The third little pig got bricks to build his new home.

Pighoose. Before long, the wicked wolf came along the road to the straw house. Knock, knock, knock! "Little pig, little pig, let me come in," called the wolf. HUFF! Puff! "No!" cried the first little pig. "I won't let you in. Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin." "Then I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down," called the hungry wolf. So he huffed and he puffed, and he blew down the straw house. The first little pig ran fast to the second little pig's house.

Soon the wicked wolf knocked on the door of the house built of sticks. "Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in," he called. "No, no!" cried the two little pigs. "We won't let you in. Not by the hair of our chinny chin chins." "Then I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down," called the hungry wolf. He huffed and he puffed, and he blew down the house built of sticks. The two little pigs ran fast to their brother's house.

Before long, the wicked wolf knocked on the door of the brick house. "Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in," he called. "No, no, no!" cried the three pigs. "We won't let you in. Not by the hair of our chinny chin chins." "Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down," called the wolf. So he huffed and he puffed, but he couldn't blow down the house built of bricks.

The wicked wolf had a new idea. He climbed up onto the roof of the brick house. He wanted to climb down the chimney.
