Paulo the Pilot written by Pam Holden illustrated by Pauline Whimp
When Paulo was a little boy, he watched the birds flying. He wanted to fly like them. He saw planes flying high in the sky. "I want to fly like that!" he said.
Dad gave Paulo a toy plane to fly around the garden. "I want to fly like that!" he said. He put on his flying clothes, and he jumped on the trampoline. "I'm flying!" he shouted.
Dad pushed Paulo high on the swing. "I'm flying up to the sun!" he shouted. He let balloons go, and he watched them fly away above the trees. "I want to fly up there!" he said.
When Paulo got older, he had a kite that flew above the park. "I want to fly up there with the birds!" he said. Dad took him for a ride in a hot air balloon. They flew over houses and farms. "I want to fly by myself!" he said.
When Paulo was big, he flew a hang-glider over the hills. "I want to fly higher!" he said. When he grew up, he learned to fly a plane. Zoom! He could fly high above the trees. He looked down on the towns.
