16 Trip to the Moon

Trip to the Moon written by Jack Gabolinscy illustrated by Fraser Williamson

Boom! Boom! Boompitty-boom! I was having fun playing my drums, but my Mum was trying to talk to her friend. She put her hands over her ears. "Please stop banging those drums," she called to me. "You could go outside to play."

I went outside and got into my rocket. When I pushed the start button, it flew up into the sky. Zoom! I waved goodbye to Mum as I flew over the roof of our house. "I'll be back at lunchtime," I called.

Zoom! Boom! Vroom! I flew quickly up to the moon. I found out that it was made of cheese with holes in it. I met the man who lived there. His name was Mr Yellow. We had cheese cakes for lunch on the sunny side of the moon.

Mr Yellow took me to the far side of the moon to see his mice. They were as big as elephants. "My mice love eating cheese," he said. "They eat holes in the moon all day. They eat and eat until they are so full that they can't eat any more."

When I looked back down at the world, I saw Mum standing by the back door. She was looking everywhere for me. "Come and see what we have for our lunch today," she called. "There's something nice to eat."
