My Big, Big Kick written by Jack Gabolinscy illustrated by Jane MacDonald
Today I had an exciting day. I took my new ball to school. When I got home, I sat down to have a sandwich and an apple. My mother asked me, "What did you do at school today?"
I told my mother about my amazing kick. "I kicked my new ball as hard as I could and it went up above the school. It flew high over birds and chimneys. "It just kept going up, up, up! It went so fast that it looked like a jet plane flying through the sky.
"My ball went faster and faster. It flew faster than a helicopter. It went right over bridges and high towers in the city. "It went faster than a plane as it flew through the clouds. It flew past an eagle high over the mountains.
"My ball flew past a lighthouse and over ships on the sea. Some whales saw it flying by. "The ball flew further and further. It was going as fast as a flash of lightning.
"Some people in India saw-it going by. 'What was that?' they asked. Was it a jet plane?' Was it a rocket? Or was it a flash of lightning?' "But it wasn't any of those things. It was just my new ball.
