The Great GRIZZLY BEAR Mystery WHAT SPECIES OF ANIMAL do you think would make the world's very worst pet? This is the story of two children who were determined to bring one of the most terrifying animals on earth into their home.
A GRIZZLY BEAR. What happened next may surprise you. Let me begin this tale by introducing you to the two children. They were twins: a girl and a boy named Lois and Mylo. They lived with their two fathers in a windmill at the top of a hill. From there they had a view of a deep, dark forest below. Now, the children always whined and whined and whined about not having a pet. All the other children in their local village had them. There were dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and mice. One child even had a hawk! So Lois and Mylo pleaded and pleaded with their fathers. One they called Daddy, and the other they called Papa.
"Why can't we have a pet, Daddy?" begged Lois. "It's not fair!" added Mylo. It was the first thing they spoke about when they woke up in the morning and the last thing when they went to bed at night. All day, every day, they went on and on and on about having a pet. In the end, their fathers were driven bananas. So, one evening when the children had been pleading nonstop for several hours, they finally caved in. "ALL RIGHT! ALL RIGHT!" snapped Daddy. "YOU CAN HAVE A PET!" added Papa. "YES!" cried the twins, hugging each other. They fell silent for a moment. "Peace at last!" exclaimed Daddy. "But which pet shall we get?" asked Lois excitedly. "OH! Any animal you like!" replied Daddy. "Just no more going on about it!" added Papa. This proved to be a huge mistake. And I mean HUGE! The twins looked at each other in disbelief. "Any animal we like, Daddy?" asked Lois. "Any one!" he replied. "Promise, Papa?" said Mylo.
"WE PROMISE!" declared Papa. "YES!" exclaimed the twins. Then they tumbled up the long, winding staircase to their bedroom at the very top of the windmill. As they could have any pet they chose, it seemed silly to pick an animal so many other children had, like a dog or a cat or a mouse. So together they sat on the rug and searched for inspiration in their favourite book, The BIG book of BLOODCURDLING BEASTS. Like many children, the twins were far more interested in the scary animals than the nice ones. "The killer whale is one of the deadliest creatures on Earth!" read Lois. "Well, let's get one of those, then!" exclaimed Mylo. "Where are we going to keep it?" "In the bath, of course!"
"What about bath time? I am not sharing a bath with a great big whale!" said the said. That was the end of that. No killer whale. "LOOK!" exclaimed Mylo. "It says here that hippopotamuses kill more people every year than sharks!" "Wow! Let's get one, then! But, hang on, who would pick up the hippo dung?" asked Lois. That was the end of that. No hippopotamus. "I know! I know! I know!" cried Lois, snatching the book back. "We should get a crocodile!" "Who would clean its teeth?" asked Mylo. That was the end of that. No crocodile. The twins were running out of ideas when they turned to the final page in
