Eyes: Polar bears have an extra clear eyelid that helps them to see underwater and in snowstorms. Claws: sharp claws help polar bears grip the ice.

POLAR BEAR FUR Polar bears have the thickest fur of any type of bear. Although it looks white, polar bear fur is see-through-it just looks white because it reflects light. Nose: A sensitive nose helps polar bears smell prey from more than a mile (1.6km) away. Fat: A layer of fat (10cm) 4in thick helps keep the bears warm.
