11 Make your own erupting volcano

MAKE YOUR OWN ERUPTING VOLCANO YOU WILL NEED Warm water Empty plastic bottle Baking soda Red food coloring Dish-washing liquid Tray Damp sand Vinegar 1 Pour warm water into a bottle until it is almost full. Add 2 tosp of baking soda, then put the cap on the bottle and shake to dissolve. 2 Add a few drops of red food coloring and a squeeze of disn-wasning liquid. Put the bottle on a tray.

3 Pile damp sand around the bottle to make the shape of a volcano. 4 Pour vinegar into the bottle and watch the eruption! WHAT'S HAPPENING? Unlike a real volcano that erupts because pressure causes molten rock to burst to the Earth's surface, this model erupts because of a chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda.
