AUSTRALIAN PLATE PACIFIC PLATE PLATE BOUNDARIES The areas where two tectonic plates meet are called plate boundaries. There are three main types of plate boundaries: divergent, transform, and convergent. DIVERGENT BOUNDARY At divergent boundaries, plates move apart, pushed by hot rock from below. TRANSFORM BOUNDARY At transform boundaries, two plates scrape past each other. CONVERGENT BOUNDARY At convergent boundaries, plates crash into each other, causing one to move under the other.
