Chapter 1 All About Tigers What kind of cat runs as fast as a car? What kind of cat is 10 times stronger than a person? What kind of cat likes cooling off in water? A tiger. Tigers are strong runners and swimmers. Tigers are hard to see as they slink through the dry grass. All tigers have stripes. But each tiger has different stripes. Tigers live in jungles and forests. A tiger's coat helps it blend in with long grass, bushes, and trees. This helps keep the tiger safe.

Tigers are mammals. A mammal feeds its young on milk. Tiger cubs live with their mother for two to three years. Adult male tigers live alone. This Bengal tiger cub looks like its mother. Tigers hunt alone. They hide and then sneak up on their prey. They catch deer, wild pigs, and cattle. Tigers are the biggest and most powerful cats in the world. But today they are in danger. Tigers can usually run faster than their prey.

Chapter 2 Why Are Tigers in Danger? Around 100 years ago, there were many wild tigers. Today, few wild tigers are left in the world. They are endangered. The biggest danger to tigers comes from people.
