What Does a Baby Dolphin Do? Dolphins are animals. Dolphins live in the ocean. A baby dolphin is called a calf. A dolphin calf has to learn to swim. The calf learns to go to the surface, or top of the water, to get air, too. calf Dolphins need air one or two times a minute.
