Teacher Teachers play an important role in a community. A community is a group of people who live in the same area. Your neighborhood is a community. So is your city or town. Teachers are people in a community who help us learn. Some teachers work with children. Others help adults learn. A student raises her hand to ask a question. A map helps us find different places around the world. A school librarian helps teach the lesson. Students use a pencil and paper to take notes.

Bus driver Bus drivers help people in a community get from place to place. Some bus drivers help us get to school. Others drive on certain routes (paths) around town. Bus drivers must have a special license to drive a bus. Many other workers help people get from place to place. Some workers drive trains that take people into cities. A bus driver picks up people at a bus stop.

Passengers pay to get on the bus. They can use money or a fare card. Buses have numbers that show their route. The screen on the front of the bus shows the bus's destination. Bus drivers help people with directions. It's a fact! The word bus comes from a longer word, omnibus This Latin word means for everyone.
