Joy was a clown who liked to tell jokes. The jokes made people smile. They wanted Joy to tell jokes to the king to make him smile. They asked her to see the king the next day. But that night Joy had a dream that made her frown.

Joy dreamed that she went to see the king. But she could not tell funny jokes. When Joy woke up, she could not think of jokes to tell. "I had a dream that I lost my jokes," Joy told the king. "The dream came true. I can't think of jokes to tell. I think my jokes ran away."

The people wanted to help the clown find her jokes. They went from house to house to look for them. They looked all around the town. But no one could find the jokes.

Dog saw the people go from house to house. They asked Dog to help them find the jokes. "Jokes don't run away," howled the dog.

Dog went to see Mouse, Cow, Duck, and the hens. He told them what he saw in town. "That does not sound right at all," they said. "Jokes don't run away."
