The biggest ship ever A new ship set sail 100 years ago. Her name was Titanic, which means " giant" . She was the biggest passenger boat ever built and could carry 3, 500 people.

Maiden voyage On 10 April 1912, the Titanic left Southampton, England, on her maiden voyage.

She was heading for New York, in the United States of America. Over 2, 200 passengers and crew were making the six-day journey.

Life on board First-class passengers had beautiful rooms, with carpets and chandeliers. The first class part of the ship had a large staircass leading to a dining room.

There were restaurants, lounges, steam baths, a library and a gym.
