Big Ears

“Billy is new. Let's say hello to him!” says the teacher. “Hello, Billy,” say the mice. But they don't want to sit by Billy. “Your ears are too big. We can't see the blackboard," they say. Billy is sad.

Billy gets a note from Lily. Here is a seat. Come and sit by me, it says. In the playground, Billy wants to play football. “Here comes Billy big ears!” The mice laugh at him.

“I hate it here,” says Billy. “Don't cry,” says Lily. “You are just special.” Suddenly, it starts to rain. Big raindrops are falling down. “Oh no, we'll get wet. Let's run!” says Lily.

“Come under my ear," says Billy. “Your big ears are great,” says Lily. “Can I come under your ear too?” asks Sammy. “Sure,” says Billy. “Come on under."

Since then, Billy's classmates find Billy's big ears very useful. His big ears can catch balls in the game. They can be fans when it's hot. They can fly like wings. They're even good for swimming.
