A Letter to New Zealand

A Letter to New Zealand

Sending a letter People send letters all over the world. But how do the letters get there? Jack lives in the UK. He is writing a letter to his penpal, Tama, in New Zealand.

Jack writes Tama's name and address on the envelope. His letter is going on a long journey. New Zealand is on the other side of the world from the UK.

Posting the letter Jack buys a stamp at the post office. The cost of the stamp pays for the letter to go to New Zealand by airmail. Post for New Zealand can be sent by sea too, but airmail is quicker.

Jack puts the stamp on his letter.

Then Jack pops his letter in the postbox. It will take about five days to reach Tama.
