Your Senses You smell hay and grasses. You feel dirt under your feet. You taste fresh cheese. You hear cows mooing. How do you know you are on a farm?

How do you learn about things around you? You use your senses. You have five senses. They work together to gather information about the world around you. They work to keep you safe and help you learn.

You have sense organs for your senses. These sense organs help you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell. Each sense organ collects one kind of information. The sense organs send the information to your brain. Your brain uses this information to tell you what to do.

Sight Your eyes are your sense organs for sight. Your eyes are like a camera. They take pictures of things you see. Nerves send the pictures from your eyes to your brain. Your eyes help you see cars when you cross the road, and keep you safe. Your eyes help you find things. They also help you enjoy the world around you.

Your eyes help you see shapes, sizes, and colors. You can use the words red and round to describe a ball. You can use the word tall to describe a tree.
