People Power Do you like playing in water? Maybe you like to swim or ride in a boat. There are many ways to enjoy water and water sports. Moving in water is different from moving in air. People need a force to move through both. A force is a push or a pull. But it is harder to move through water. They need more force.

Sometimes people use machines to move in water. People use a paddle to make a canoe move. They push the paddle toward the back of the boat. The canoe moves forward. Two people using paddles can make the canoe go faster. Safety! Always wear a life jacket when on a boat!
