Izzie hurried toward Kids Central. She saw Nina, Jason, and Ethan in the hallway. “ You’re back! ” Nina said. “ Miss Shelly said you were sick. ” “ I was sick, ” Izzie said. “ I had the flu. ” “ My dad has it now, ” Jason said. “ He’s miserable. ”

“ Everybody is getting sick, ” Izzie said. The kids walked into the gym. Suddenly everyone halted. “ Mr. Dunn?” Izzie said. “ What are you doing here?” Mr. Dunn laughed. “ Aren’t you happy to see me?” “ Of course we are! ” Nina said.

Bobby raced into the gym. “ Mr. Dunn?” “ Miss Shelly has the flu, ” Mr. Dunn said. “ So you’re stuck with me today. ” All the kids laughed, except Nina. “ What’s the matter, Nina?” Mr. Dunn asked. “ I’m happy you’re here, ” Nina said. “ But I’m sad Miss Shelly is sick. ”

“ Me too, ” Izzie said. “ Maybe we can do something nice for her, ” Mr. Dunn said. “ My mom makes soup when I’m sick, ” Jason said. “ We don’t have any ingredients for soup, ” Mr. Dunn said.

“ We can make cards, ” Nina suggested. “ I have a better idea, ” Izzie said. “ Let’s make a ‘get well’ jar! ” “ What’s that?” Ethan asked. “ It’s a jar filled with things that cheer you up, ” Izzie said. “ My grandmother sent me one when I was sick. “ ” It had playing cards, tissues, and hard candies. And frog treats for Gurpy! ”
