Three-Legged Race Day

Bobby wiped the sweat off his forehead. It was only nine o’clock, but it was already hot. He didn’t mind. Today was Three-Legged Race Day! The Kids Central campers were having three-legged races this morning. They were taking turns being partners with each other. At the end of the day, they’d see which team ran fastest. That team would win the blue ribbon!

The five campers gathered on the soccer field. “ Please choose a partner for your first race, ” Mr. Dunn called. “ Want to be partners?” Ethan asked Bobby. “ Sure! ” said Bobby. He knew Ethan would be a fast partner.

Bobby and Ethan tied their inside legs together with a scarf. “ Practice walking first. Then try running, ” Mr. Dunn suggested. Bobby was a little taller than Ethan, but it was easy to walk together. “ Ready?” Mr. Dunn asked. The kids lined up.

Bobby and Ethan were racing against Nina and Izzie. “ On your mark, get set, go! ” “ One, two. One, two. One, two, ” Bobby and Ethan chanted as they easily ran ahead of the girls. “ With a time of 32 seconds, the winners are Bobby and Ethan! ” Mr. Dunn called.

Next Bobby teamed up with Jason. They raced against Nina and Ethan. But Bobby and Jason tripped a lot. “ With a time of 34 seconds, the winners are Nina and Ethan! ” Mr. Dunn announced. In the third race, Bobby was partners with Nina. But she was a lot shorter than him. And they couldn’t stop falling!
