Summer Camp

Summer Camp

Bobby waved good-bye to his mom and walked inside the school. It felt a little weird to be there. He wasn’t going to class. And he wasn’t going to Kids Central. He was going to Kids Central summer camp! In the gym Bobby saw a bucket of water balloons. A tall man was wearing a T-shirt that said: “Kids Central Summe Camp.”

He also had on a baseball cap. “Welcome, camper,” the man said. “Let me guess. Bobby?” “That’s me,” Bobby said.“Are you Mr. Dunn?” His mom had told him Miss Shelly wouldn’t be teaching this summer. Mr. Dunn smiled. “That’s me. My friend Miss Shelly told me all about you.I hear you’re on your way to becoming a basketball star.”

Bobby tried not to grin. “Nah,” he said. Suddenly the gym door burst open and two girls rushed in. “Nina! Izzie! You guys are here for the summer too?” Bobby said. “The whole summer,” Izzie said. “I can’t wait,” said Nina. “Even thoughI’m here already.”

The two girls giggled. Then they looked up at their new teacher. “Hi, Mr. Dunn,” they said. “Nice to meet you,” Mr. Dunn said. “We’re just waiting for—” “Jason and Ethan!” Izzie squealed. “That’s right.” Mr. Dunn looked surprised.

“No. I mean Jason and Ethan are here!” Izzie pointed as Jason and Ethan walked over to them. “Great. Jason, Ethan, I’m Mr. Dunn. Everybody, follow me outside.” Mr. Dunn led them to the blacktop. “We’re going to have a get-to-know-you water balloon toss. Please get into pairs.”
