A New Villain

Roxy called Terrell to tell him she couldn’t join her friends. Then she flew to the canning factory. Boxes were stacked near a wall. Rusty cans and tools lay on the floor. “ Hello?” Roxy shouted. “ Is anyone here?” Nobody answered. Roxy flew around.

The building was empty. She scratched her head. “ I don’t think there’s an emergency here. Mayor Bloom made a mistake. ” She flew toward the exit. Bam! The door slammed shut. Roxy spun around. “ Who closed the—?” Roxy gasped. Boxes, cans, and tools floated in the air.

A dark figure floated into the room. Shiny material covered its face. Roxy saw her reflection in it. “ Who are you?” Roxy said. “ Call me Brain Invader, ” the figure said. “ I know your voice, ” Roxy said. “ It was in my head! ” “ Yes, ” Brain Invader said.

“ I can get in people’s minds. I made Rumbler rob that bank. And I made Mayor Bloom send you here. ” “ Why?” Roxy asked. “ What do you want?” “ It’s simple, ” Brain Invader said. “ I want to take over the world. And I want you to help me. ”

“ Never! ” Roxy fired her eye laser beams. Whiz-hoo! Brain Invader vanished. The laser beams hit the wall. Roxy heard the villain laugh. “ Did I disappear?” he asked. “ Or did I just make you think I disappeared?”
