Pizza Night

Terrell arrived at Roxy’s house. “ Hi, Terrell, ” Roxy’s mom said. “ Roxy is on a Rocket Girl mission. She’ll be home in—” Whoosh! Roxy shot into the house like a rocket. A framed picture swung wildly. Her mom caught it. “ No flying in the house, Roxy! ”

“ Oops! Sorry, Mom. ” Roxy’s dad arrived with pizza. Everyone sat down to eat. “ What did Rocket Girl do this afternoon?” Roxy’s dad asked. Roxy rolled her eyes. This was her dad’s favorite joke. He pretended Rocket Girl was someone Roxy knew.

Of course, he knew she was Rocket Girl. “ So?” Her dad handed out slices of pizza. “ Did she fight the giant skunk?” “ What giant skunk?” Roxy asked. “ Somebody saw a giant skunk in Metro City, ” Terrell said. He took a bite of pizza. “ I didn’t hear about that, ” Roxy said. “ I was busy talking to the Mighty Man actor. He can shoot slime now. ”

“ Wow! ” Roxy’s mom said. Terrell shrugged. “ You’re still the best superhero in Metro City, Roxy. ” Roxy smiled. “ Thanks, Terrell. I think you’re right. The actor made a big mess at Metro Mart. I might have to give him superhero lessons. ”

Her dad chuckled. “ You mean Rocket Girl might have to give him lessons. ” Roxy rolled her eyes again. Just then Terrell bumped his glass. Roxy grabbed it. Crack! She accidentally used her super strength. “ Sorry! ” Roxy cried. “ It’s okay, ” her dad said.
