Ugly Clothes

“ I have to get to Trends Department Store, ” Roxy thought. “ Mannequins came to life! ” She went back to her friends. “ I’ll be right back. I’m going to get a drink of water. ” Roxy ran off. “ Good luck! ” Terrell called. Mara raised an eyebrow. “ What does Roxy need good luck for?”

“ Oh, um . . . ” Terrell bit his lip. “ Maybe she’ll have a hard time finding a water fountain. ” Roxy arrived outside Trends Department Store. Several people were hiding outside.

They looked scared. “ Rocket Girl! ” a woman said. “ I’m glad you’re here. Mannequins are coming to life! ” “ I know. ” Roxy looked around. “ Where are the mannequins?” “ I don’t know, ” a man said. “ But they tried to make us wear ugly clothes! ”

“ We fought them off, ” another woman said. Roxy found Detective Smith inside. He was standing in a clothing section. “ Good! You’re here, ” the detective said. “ Ahh! ” Roxy pretended to be scared. “ That mannequin just talked! ”

Detective Smith frowned. “ I’m not a mannequin, Rocket Girl. ” Roxy rolled her eyes. “ I know that, Detective. ” She looked around. “ Are the mannequins in here? Some people outside saw them. ” “ I think the mannequins are gone, ” Detective Smith said.
