Toad’s Party

All the Riverbankers came to Toad’s party. Toad Hall was full of lights and music. “ What wonderful food, ” said a chipmunk. “ Toad Hall is a grand home! ” said a squirrel.

Toad came down the stairs. “ Hooray for Toad! ” all the guests cried. “ Thank you, ” said Toad. “ I’m glad to be back. ” The other animals gathered around him.

“ You sure made the weasels run! ” said a skunk. “ Well, I had a lot of help, ” said Toad. “ You must be a brave fighter! ” said a raccoon. “ We all fought as a team, ” said Toad.

“ What courage! ” said a young beaver. “ You beat the Chief Weasel all by yourself! ” “ He’s just a bully, ” said Toad. “ Bullies scare easily. ”

Otter ran over to hug Toad. “ Our hero! ” shouted Otter. “ Everyone wants to hear about your fight! ” “ Badger was the leader, ” said Toad. “ Not me. ”
