Toad’s Song

Toad’s Song

Toad dressed for the party. He listened to the voices downstairs. “ Ah, the guests are here, ” he said. Toad sat on his bed.

“ It’s a shame they won’t let me sing, ” he said. “ No one will hear my song. ” Then he smiled. “ But I will sing my song! ” he cried.

Toad set some chairs in a row. Then he stood on his bed. He faced the empty seats and bowed. He sang at the top of his voice:

Fear was in the hall, And fighting in the yard, The enemy cried, “ I give up! ” When Toad came home!

Every window smashed, Every dish went crash! The ferrets ran away and hid, When Toad came home!
