Invitations

“ I can’t have a party, ” said Toad. “ I’m eating my breakfast. ” Toad sipped his coffee.

“ Don’t be foolish, Toad, ” said Badger. “ The party will be tonight. You need to write invitations. ” “ Now?” asked Toad.

“ Yes, ” ordered Badger. “ Sit down and write to all your friends. ” “ It’s my first day home! ” yelled Toad. “ I don’t want to sit inside all day. ”

Suddenly Toad smiled and his eyes twinkled. “ Great idea, Badger, ” he said. “ I’ll mail the invitations by lunch. ” Badger was suddenly suspicious.

“ Toad, what are you up to?” asked Badger. “ Nothing, dear Badger! ” said Toad happily. “ Go and buy food for the party. ” As soon as Badger left, Toad sat at the table.
