Mole watched the ferrets clean the bedrooms. Then he marched them to the door. “ Out you go! ” he said. “ And don’t come back. ”

He joined his friends in the kitchen. “ We found jelly and cold chicken, ” said Toad. “ And here’s some bread and cheese, ” said Rat. They all sat down to supper.

“ Did the ferrets sweep under the beds?” asked Badger. “ Yes, ” said Mole. “ They put clean sheets on too?” asked Badger. “ I watched them myself, ” said Mole.

“ Is there fresh soap and clean towels?” said Badger. “ Everything is perfect! ” said Mole. “ Good! ” said Badger, smiling. “ It will be nice to sleep indoors on soft beds! ”

“ The ferrets said they were sorry, ” said Mole. “ They blame everything on the Chief Weasel. They say he is a bully and a thief. ” “ Well, I hope they learned a lesson! ” said Badger.
