After the Fight

The four heroes put away their weapons. The fight was over. Some ferrets still lay on the floor. “ I’ll tie them up, ” said Rat.

Badger wiped his face. “ Mole, ” he said, “ check the ferrets outside. ” Then Badger turned to Toad. “ Let’s pick up the broken dishes, ” he said.

“ Oh, my best china! ” said Toad sadly. “ Cheer up, Toad, ” said Rat. “ It was a good fight! ” “ Our battle will be remembered! ” said Badger.

Toad, Badger, and Rat swept up the broken plates. “ I’m hungry, ” said Rat, looking around. “ Let’s see if the weasels left any food. ” Toad and Rat went into the kitchen.

Mole walked in carrying a pile of guns. “ It’s all over, ” said Mole. “ The ferrets outside ran away. They dropped their guns on the grass. ”
