The Battle of Toad Hall

Badger, Mole, Rat, and Toad jumped into the room. They had their weapons ready. They stood side by side like heroes. “ Ahhh! ” the Wild-Wooders screamed.

“ It’s Badger! ” they cried. “ Run! ” Badger swung his club in the air. “ Come on, Mole! ” shouted Badger.

Mole’s sword was ready. “ Get out, you bullies! ” yelled Mole. Scared weasels hid under tables. Ferrets rushed up the chimney.

“ You can’t get away! ” yelled Rat. Glasses and plates crashed to the floor. Pictures fell from the walls. Toad puffed up with anger!

“ Sing songs about me?” cried Toad. “ Make fun of me?” he shouted. “ Never! ” Toad lifted his club high in the air. He ran toward the Chief Weasel.
