The Weasels’ Party

Badger stopped. The others stopped behind him. “ We’re under the closet floor, ” said Badger. They listened to the noise above.

The cheering sounded like thunder. All the Wild-Wooders were shouting. “ A lot of weasels are up there, ” said Mole. “ Ferrets too, ” said Rat.

Above their heads was a square door. “ Now—all together! ” said Badger. They pushed on the door, and it flew open. One by one, the friends climbed up.

“ Well, we made it, ” said Rat. “ We’re inside my closet, ” said Toad. The enemy was on the other side of the door. Suddenly the Wild-Wooders were quiet.

“ I would like to praise good old Toad! ” said a voice. All the weasels laughed. “ His beds are very warm! ” said the voice. The ferrets yelled happily.
