“ Rat? Mole? Badger?” Toad called. He listened in the dark. There was no answer. “ This tunnel is so cold and small, ” said Toad.

Toad heard something scratching nearby. “ Ahhh! ” he cried. Toad ran wildly through the dark. He bumped into an animal with a sword.

“ Hey! ” said Rat. Rat stumbled into Mole. “ Ow! ” said Mole. Mole bumped into Badger.

“ Look out! ” yelled Badger. “ I think we’re being attacked! ” “ It’s only me! ” cried Toad.

“ Toad! ” said Badger. “ You must go back! ” “ Oh please, Badger! ” cried Toad. “ Let him stay, ” said Rat. “ I’ll take care of him. ”
