Stupid Toad

“ I escaped again! ” thought Toad. He walked through a field singing his song. “ Who escaped and feels so glad? Clever Toad! Clever Toad! ”

“ Oh, what a wonderful song, ” said Toad. “ It’s the best song I ever wrote! ” He sang it again as loud as he could. Suddenly Toad stopped and listened.

He heard a noise behind him. He turned around to look. Two policemen were running his way. “ Oh no! ” said Toad. “ Poor me! ”

The raccoon ran with the policemen. “ There he is! ” the raccoon cried. “ We’ll get you! ” yelled the police. Suddenly afraid, Toad ran.

“ I’m so stupid! ” cried Toad. “ I was singing too loudly. I was too pleased with myself! ” Toad looked back.
