After a long sleep, Rat awoke. He sat up in his chair. “ You look much better, ” said Mole. Rat’s eyes were clear again.

“ What happened to you?” asked Mole. “ You almost left the riverbank! ” “ I don’t know, ” said Rat. “ It’s hard to say. ” Rat told Mole about the visitor.

“ I listened to Sea Rat, ” said Rat. “ His story was like a dream. I acted as if I wasn’t awake. ” “ How very strange, ” said Mole.

“ Now, I feel sad, ” said Rat. “ Rat, you’ll be happy again, ” said Mole. “ Just look outside. ” “ Why?” asked Rat.

“ The apples are red, ” said Mole. “ Nuts are falling from the trees. The pumpkins are fat! ” “ I’m feeling a little better, ” said Rat.
