This Summer

Settle down, class, ” said the teacher. “ Summer vacation is coming soon. Today I want you to write about what you will do. ” This assignment is easy! I will write about going to my grandparents’ house. They live up north beside a large lake. The lake is so clear that I can see right to the bottom.

Early in the morning, my grandfather and I will go fishing on his boat. If we are lucky, we will catch a big fish. It is very quiet and peaceful on the lake. After lunch we will do many chores. I like helping my grandfather mow the lawn. He has a big lawn mower that I can ride. We will also clean the boat. My grandfather will check the engine. I will polish the inside and outside of the boat.

After we do the chores, I will be able to play. Last year I made a fort high up in a tall tree. Some friends will come and play in my tree fort. We will do many fun things together.

My friends and I will also go to the beach. At the beach we will build a sand castle. Last year we made one that was almost as tall as I was. At five o’clock my grandmother will barbecue hamburgers. We’ll also eat corn on the cob. My grandmother is the best cook in the world!

After dinner my grandparents and I will watch the sunset. The sun looks very beautiful as it sets over the lake. At night we will sit around a fire pit. My grandfather will tell me stories. Sometimes we roast marshmallows for s’mores. Soon I will get tired, and it will be time for bed. But I don’t mind going to bed. I will be able to do everything again the very next day.
