The Big Breakfast
It was a beautiful Sunday morning. Paula, Becky, and Helen were waiting for their mother. “ Good morning, girls! ” said Dad. “ Good morning, Dad! ” said the girls. Dad began to hum as he put on Mom’s pink apron.
“ Where’s Mom?” asked Paula. “ Your mother is sick, ” said Dad. “ So today, I’m going to make your breakfast! ” Every Sunday, Mom made a big breakfast for the family. Mom was a wonderful cook. The family would talk and laugh as they ate their breakfast together.
What would you like to have?” asked Dad. “ Can I have some pancakes?” asked Becky. “ I’d like scrambled eggs and some toast, ” said Helen.
“ May I have some bacon and sausage?” asked Paula. “ Uh . . . okay. Sure, no problem! ” “ Dad, can we help?” asked Helen. “ No, thank you. ” Dad put the frying pan on the stove. He put two pieces of bread into the toaster.
“ Now for the pancakes! ” Dad looked in the drawers, in the refrigerator, and under the sink. “ Where does your mother hide the pancake mix?” Dad scratched his head. “ Mom usually keeps it in the pantry. ” Becky pointed.
