Every Monday morning is show-and-tell time in Mr. Francesco’s class. Each week, five students bring something to class. They show and tell their classmates all about it. Brandy’s turn was next week. She was very worried because she didn’t know what to show. Brandy didn’t have any pets.

She didn’t have any hobbies. Brandy thought and thought. What could she bring for show-and-tell? Last week, Kara brought her pet iguana. The week before, Miyuki performed a magic trick. It was already Friday afternoon. Brandy still didn’t know what she was going to do for show-and-tell.

“ Is something wrong, Brandy?” asked her mother. “ Mom, what should I do for show-and- tell on Monday?” asked Brandy. “ There are many things you are good at. ” “ Like what?” asked Brandy.

“ Well, you’re good at math, and . . . ” her mother paused. “ Oh, honey, can you get that jar for me?” Brandy was always ready to help her mother. Three years ago, Brandy’s mother was in a terrible car accident. She could no longer use her legs.

The weekend passed and soon it was Monday morning. It was time for show-and- tell. “ Okay, now it’s Brandy’s turn. What are you going to share with us?” asked the teacher. “ I . . . I’m sorry, Mr. Francesco, ” Brandy said quietly.
