The Test
Angie, Susan, Maria, and Kate went to school every morning by car. Their parents took turns driving them. One day, Susan’s mother drove the girls. After they arrived at school, Angie said,
“ I don’t want to take the math test today. Let’s go to class an hour late. ” ” Good idea, ” said Susan. “ I don’t want to take the test either. ” “ Neither do I, ” said Kate. “ I didn’t study. ”
“ I didn’t study either, ” said Maria. “ But what are we going to tell our teacher? He will be very angry if we come late. ” “ Yes, we need a good excuse, ” said Angie.
“ Oh, that’s easy, ” said Susan. “ We’ll say that my mother’s car had a flat tire. ” All the girls agreed: it was the perfect excuse.
So, they waited for an hour. When they arrived at class, the math test was over. The teacher was very angry. “ Why are you late?” he asked. The girls all started talking at once.
