Long long ago, there was a girl called Hua Mulan. Her father was a general. Mulan learned martial arts from him. Mulan had an elder sister and a younger brother. Her father was getting old. So the whole family was hoping that the five-year- old boy would grow up soon. Then he could support the family. Mulan didn't think so. She always thought, " I can do whatever boys can do. "

One day at dinner, Mulan's father was drinking in silence. Her mother was sighing. “ Dad, what's the matter?" asked Mulan. “ Well, the emperor ordered that one man from each family should serve in the army. Your brother is too young, so I have to go, " sighed her father.

Early the next morning, Mulan rushed to the market and bought a horse. She also bought the saddle, the whip and so on. In the evening, when Mulan's father came home, he saw a young soldier in the hall. The soldier was nobody but Mulan! Mulan said that she would go to the army in place of her father.

Before leaving home, Mulan said to her parents, " Don't worry! I will be fine. I will serve the country and win honor for our family! ” Mulan cut her hair and put on the armor. She then left home on horseback. She did not even look back.

In the army, all the soldiers had to take hard training every day. In the first few days, Mulan didn't do well. But she didnt lose heart. She kept practicing. Mulan made great progress. Finally, she even did better than a lot of strong men.

At first, nobody thought much of Mulan. The marshal only asked her to guard and transport food. One day, the marshal led a troop to the front line. He asked Mulan to follow them. On the way, the enemy attacked them suddenly. Mulan asked other soldiers to surround the enemy with the food carts, and they fought off the enemy. The marshal promoted Mulan. Mulan could finally fight at the front line.
