” I have to get to Metro City Plumbing Supply, ” Roxy thought. “ Mr. Copper has disappeared! ” Roxy popped her head into the classroom. “ I’ll be back soon, Miss Apricot. Um, Principal Penn needs help in the library! ” Terrell scratched his head.

“ Roxy is always running off somewhere. ” Miss Apricot looked up. “ Shh! ” Roxy ran down the hall and out the front door. She shot into the air. Zoom! Roxy arrived at Metro City Plumbing Supply. Detective Smith was in an office. He sat on the edge of the desk. A cute little baby snuggled in his arms.

“ Hi, Detective, ” Roxy said. “ Did you get a new job as a babysitter?” “ Ha-ha. ” Detective Smith frowned. “ I’m not babysitting, Rocket Girl. Somebody left this—ouch! ” The baby was pulling on the detective’s ear. “ Somebody left this baby here. ” Roxy looked closely at Detective Smith. “ You look different—younger. ”

Detective Smith chuckled. “ Thanks for noticing. I got a new treatment at Vanda’s Day Spa. Vanda said it would take years off my life. ” Detective Smith cleared his throat. “ But we have more important things to discuss now, Rocket Girl. ” Roxy nodded. “ This baby looks familiar. ” The baby smiled and clapped. “ Da-da! Goo! ”

Roxy giggled. “ Aww! He’s so cute! ” “ Yes, he’s very cute, ” Detective Smith said. “ But we still have a mystery to solve. ” “ Right! ” Roxy looked around the office. There wasn’t much in it. It had a desk, a chair, a shelf with binders, and a small safe. “ Did anyone see Mr. Copper leave?”
