Violet's Big Performance

Violet laughed. “ Good-bye, Rocket Girl! I’m going to the concert at the park. It will be my biggest performance yet. ” Roxy stood there, holding the steel beam. She felt as if she was in a dream. " Rocket Girl! ” a woman cried. “ Wake up! ” But Roxy couldn’t move or think clearly. Her arms felt weak. The beam fell from her hands and slammed onto the ground.

Bang! Roxy blinked and woke up. “ W-what’s going on?” she asked. “ You were hypnotized, ” the woman said. “ There was a violinist, and she—” “ I remember now! ” Roxy also remembered what Violet had said about the concert at the park. She flew into a store. A minute later she shot toward Metro City Park.

Violet stood onstage, running her bow across the violin’s strings. Members of the orchestra sat still. They were all staring into space. Audience members walked toward the stage. They held out their wallets and jewelry.

Violet laughed. “ I’m going to be rich, rich, rich! ” Roxy watched from far away. “ I’m glad I bought these earplugs. ” She popped them into her ears. “ Your big performance is over, Violet! ” Roxy darted toward the stage. “ Rocket Girl! ” Violet snapped.

She started to play a new song on her violin. “ Play all you want, ” Roxy said. “ I’m wearing earplugs! ” Roxy fired her eye laser beams. Whiz- hoo! Violet leaped out of the way. The laser beams hit a French horn, which melted into a puddle. “ Yikes! ” Roxy cried.
