" Okay, Rocket Girl. ” Detective Smith put his phone back in his pocket. " We have to—Rocket Girl?” Roxy saw a young woman run out of Metro City Shopping Mall. The woman carried a violin case and a large sack. “ That must be Violet Sharp! ” Roxy thought.

Roxy landed in the street. “ Stop right there, Violet! ” Violet glared at Roxy. “ What do you want, Rocket Girl?” “ Are you stealing stuff from people?” Roxy asked. Violet didn’t reply. “ You’re a talented musician, ” Roxy said.

“ I heard the Metro City Symphony Orchestra invited you to try out. Why are you stealing?” “ Hmph! ” Violet scowled. “ They said I wasn’t good enough to be in their silly orchestra. I’ll show them. I made a violin that hypnotizes people. Now I’ll be richer than any musician in history! ”

She jumped into a waiting bus. The bus drove off. Roxy shot after it. Violet glared at Roxy through the window. “ You can’t stop me! ” she shouted. She pulled out her violin. As she played, the other passengers stared at her. Their eyes looked blank. Violet jumped off the bus and ran around a corner.

Roxy was about to chase her. But the bus was driving out of control! Cars drove onto the sidewalk. People ran and dived behind garbage cans. One man shook his fist. “ Crazy bus driver! ” “ Oh no! ” Roxy cried. “ Violet hypnotized the bus driver! ” She shot after the bus and pulled it to a stop.
