Glowing Collars

Roxy landed in Metro City Park. “ It’s Rocket Girl! ” cried Mara. Roxy looked around. Monster dogs and cats were everywhere! Several monster pets were on the tennis court. The court was surrounded by a tall fence. A monster cat hissed at a man selling balloons. The cat jumped up and stuck out its claws.

Pop! Pop! Pop! The cat popped all the balloons. “ My balloons are ruined! ” cried the balloon man. Roxy noticed the cat’s collar. It was glowing. “ MEOW! ” Roxy spun around.

Another monster cat was creeping toward her! Roxy gasped. “ It has a glowing collar too! ” Phwoof! The cat shot a flaming hairball toward Roxy. Roxy made a fist and—bam! She knocked the hairball away. “ Help, Rocket Girl! ” cried Terrell.

Roxy glanced back at her friends. Two monster dogs were growling and moving toward them! Roxy whistled loudly. The dogs turned and charged toward Roxy. She ran to the tennis court and stood in front of the open gate. “ GRR! ” The dogs growled and raced toward Roxy.

Just before they reached her, she jumped up. The dogs tumbled onto the tennis court. “ Ha! ” cried Roxy as she slammed shut the gate. Terrell, Mara, and Jack cheered. “ Yay, Rocket Girl! ” cried Mara. Roxy zoomed into the air.
