” This is terrible! ” said Mayor Bloom. “ The Ultra Car is destroying the city! ” “ My poor Ruby! ” cried Mrs. Cash. “ My poor car! ” cried the inventor. “ My poor city! ” cried Mayor Bloom. “ Rocket Girl! ” said Detective Smith. ” You must . . . Rocket Girl?”

Zoom! Roxy shot through the air. She flew toward downtown as fast as she could. Up ahead, she saw black smoke fill the sky. “ Something’s burning! ” thought Roxy. She used her super vision to see through the smoke. Cars were burning in the street.

A building was on fire too. A fruit cart lay on its side. Several store windows had been smashed. A sleek car rocketed down West Street. It had wings and rockets. “ That must be the Ultra Car! ” thought Roxy. Whoosh! She flew toward it.

Crash! The car smashed a donut stand. Donuts flew everywhere. “ Ugh! ” cried the donut maker. “ It took me all morning to make those donuts! ” Roxy used her super vision again. She peered into the Ultra Car and saw a young girl. The girl wore diamond sunglasses.

“ That’s Ruby Cash, ” thought Roxy. The car swerved all over the street. Ruby laughed. Roxy flew alongside the car. “ Ruby, stop the car! ” she cried. “ No way! ” cried Ruby. “ This is fun! ” Smash!
