The Monster

" Oh no! ” said Detective Smith. “ That monster will destroy the Metro City Convention Center! We must . . . Rocket Girl?” Roxy landed in front of the Metro City Convention Center. The building’s roof was gone.

Broken glass and bricks were everywhere. People ran out of the building. “ A monster ate my flowers! ” cried a man. “ Run for your lives! ” shouted a woman carrying an empty flowerpot. Rooaarr! The ground shook. A shadow fell over the convention center.

A huge monster stood up from behind the building. The monster had green scales and a long tail. It looked like a giant reptile. Roxy gulped. “ The monster is bigger than I thought! ” Rooaarr! The monster reached into the convention center.

It pulled out a bunch of roses and ate them. The monster burped loudly. Then it turned and walked away from the convention center. The monster sniffed and pulled all the flowers out of a garden. Then it walked some more.

“ I have to stop that monster! ” said Roxy. “ It’s headed for Mara’s neighborhood! ” Roxy shot after the monster. Whiz-hoo! She fired her eye laser beams. The laser beams bounced off the monster. The monster spun around. Rooaarr! It batted Roxy, knocking her onto a roof. The monster walked some more, sniffing and eating flowers.
