The Magic Show

The Carters were enjoying a magic show. “Mr. Amazing does the best tricks!”Oliver said. “I wish I knew his secrets,”Harry said.

The magician asked for a volunteer from the audience. “You must be brave,”he said. “I’ll make you disappear and then—” Oliver popped up from his seat.

He ran onto the stage. Mr. Amazing laughed. “It looks like I already have my volunteer!”

The magician opened a wooden box. He spun it around for the audience. “You can see the box is empty,”he said. “It has only one door, and I’ll lock that.”

Oliver began to look worried. The magician whispered something in Oliver’s ear.

Oliver waved to the audience and stepped into the box. Mr. Amazing closed the door and locked it. “Uh-oh,”Mom said. “Oliver doesn’t like the dark.”
