The Good Luck Charm

Harry and Oliver were watching baseball on TV. Soon Emmy joined them.

“ What’s the score?” she asked. “ The Bluebirds are losing 3-0, ” Harry said. “ I’ll put on my lucky blue socks, ” Emmy said. “ That’ll help the Bluebirds score. ”

Nothing happened. “ I’ll wear my baseball hat backward, ” Harry said. “ That always brings the team good luck. ”

Nothing happened. Oliver wanted a good luck charm. But he couldn’t think of one.

The score was still 3-0. “ This game is boring, ” Oliver said. He went to the kitchen and returned with a snack.

“ While you were gone, the Bluebirds scored, ” Harry said. “ The score is 3-1, ” Emmy said. Oliver ate his snack. “ Now I’m thirsty. ” He left the room.
