The Bike Race

One Saturday morning Mom was reading the newspaper. “ A bike race is coming through town, ” she said. “ More than a hundred riders will race down Main Street! ”

“ I want to see them speed by, ” Emmy said. “ I want to see the cool bikes, ” Harry said. “ When is the race?” Aunt Judy asked.

Mom read the story again. " Right now! "

Emmy and Harry put on their shoes. Aunt Judy grabbed her sunglasses. Mom found the car keys. Everyone was ready quickly.

“ We have just enough time to get there, ” Mom said. She held open the front door for everyone. Suddenly Rover escaped out the door!

“ Rover! ” Mom shouted. “ Come back! ” The Carters called Rover. But Rover didn’t come.
